UBS Golf Challenge
This free to the public interactive exhibit was sponsored by UBS. The scaled down version of the 16th, 17th and 18th holes at TPC Sawgrass was re-created in Rockefeller Center. This exhibit designed and produced by Glenn Mahoney, included real palm trees, bent grass, rough grass, and shrubs shipped from Florida. 20 tons of earth and rock mixture were sculpted to recreate the slopes of the fairways and greens. A pool with 50,000 gallons of water was created with an island to replicate the 17th green at Sawgrass. The public lined up and attempted their swing on a 1/3rd scale. A 13’ x 24’ LED screen served as the backdrop so players could watch the tournament in Florida as they tried their luck on one of the toughest golf shots in the world.
