House Beautiful

House Beautiful magazine showcased the winner of “Kitchen of The Year,” Christopher Peacock. The kitchen was displayed in a conservatory designed by Glenn Mahoney. This 1,000 square foot conservatory was designed to feel like a summer room in Eastern Long Island. Exposed beams and girders capped by a 16’ long glass copula, weighing 2,500lbs, gave an open and airy feel. A copper roof and 22 glass French doors added to its elegance. The biggest challenge was designing such a small space that could handle thousands of guests every day. This was achieved by designing a column-free space, and multiple entrances and exits for pedestrians to travel through freely.
