America’s Cup

Rockefeller Plaza was transformed in to Valencia Spain for this two week exhibit designed and produced by Glenn Mahoney. The 80 foot BMW Oracle Racing Yacht was trucked across the country from Oakland to New York City and placed on a 120 foot long dock. The dock included pools with 25,000 gallons of water replicating the Mediterranean Sea, and a Nautical Museum showcasing the history of the America’s Cup. Remote controlled sailboats graced the pools and provided the public with an interactive lesson on what it takes to sail these engineered masterpieces. Due to a tight production schedule, this exhibit had to be built in four days. This was achieved by constructing modular sections off-site in order to create the 5,000 square foot dock and modern nautical museum.
